What is When We All Vote and why are you partnering with them?
At Poo~Pourri, we promote and encourage important, healthy conversations to push for progress and change which is why we’ve partnered with When We All Vote. When We All Vote is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to increase participation in every election and close the race and age voting gap by changing the culture around voting.
I don't feel like my vote really counts, I'm just one person. So why should I bother?
Our elected leaders make decisions on our behalf every single day--how schools are funded or not. How our roads are maintained or not. How accessible voting is or not and so many more issues that affect our lives daily. Your vote is your voice. You get to help decide who is representing you, your family, your loved ones and how they are representing you.
How the heck do I register to vote?
Registering is quick and easy—you can even do it from the comfort of your toilet! Go to
WhenWeAllVote.org/PooPourri to register to vote.
Do you support a political candidate?
We do not endorse any political candidate but promote and encourage important, healthy conversations between differing viewpoints to push for progress and change. At the end of the day, exercising our right to vote is hugely important, no matter who you are voting for!
I don’t think companies should get political. I’m not buying Poo~Pourri anymore.
We hear you but to our core and since our creation, Poo~Pourri has and continues to promote and encourage important, healthy and hard conversations for change — it’s who we are. We like to see these issues as human issues vs. political issues.
What are you doing as a company to support BIPOC communities as a whole?
We know we are showing up imperfectly and will stumble at times. We also know we can’t stand by and do nothing. But in acknowledging our imperfection, we continue to seek advice, listen, learn and educate ourselves on racial justice. We want to pass on the lessons we learn and continue to encourage dialogue and tough conversations for the sake of positive change.
Here are a few ways we’re working to do and be better:
- Providing implicit bias trainings to our staff
- Refining our recruiting process to ensure we are being intentional as we interview and hire more BIPOC individuals
- Prioritizing diversity in marketing campaigns and influencer partnerships, including partnerships with Black-owned businesses
- Donating financially and with our time to organizations like NAARC and Color of Change
- Ensuring people’s voices are heard by working with organizations like When We All Vote to increase participation in every election and close the race and age voting gap
- Calling shit out—both internally and in society. None of us are perfect. But we have to be willing to listen and learn, and that is what we are trying to do at Poo~Pourri
- Challenge corporations to be true partners in fighting the systemic inequalities that still plague our nation. Again, we’re not perfect, but corporate responsibility has to be more than a tagline
